About Us
About the project
Author-Money.com is an independent project about earning a living from writing. We write for beginner authors: bloggers, freelance copywriters, self-publishers, and anyone who has just sent off a first guest post and is waiting for a reply.
We have been running the site since 2024. The goal is simple and has not changed: to show the road from “I want to write” to a first paid piece, without myths about easy money and without $999 courses. The site holds over a thousand practical guides and fifteen free tools — and not a single paid product.
Who this site is for
- You have written a few pieces and have no idea what to charge for them.
- You run a blog but cannot tell when it will start paying for itself.
- You have finished a book and are not ready to hand it to a publisher.
- You take on client work and have just realised you are earning three dollars an hour.
If any of that sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
Who writes it
The project is run by a small editorial team of writers and editors. We take client work, run blogs, publish in other people’s media and release books ourselves — so we write about what we do, not about what we read on someone else’s blog.
Where we lack first-hand experience, we say so in the text and lean on primary sources: official platform documentation, market research, public reports. We do not retell other people’s retellings.
What you will find here
- Nine tracks — from writing craft and skill development to SEO, guest posting and content income.
- Fifteen tools that compute in your browser: article fee, freelance rate, self-publishing royalties, readability, keyword density, daily word target to a deadline, and ten more.
- Service reviews — from our own testing, not a retelling of someone else's write-up.
- Success stories — no “made a million in a month”, but real numbers and real timelines.
Editorial principles
- We write about what we do ourselves. Where we lack the experience, the text says so.
- We update when the numbers age. An article with stale rates is worse than no article.
- Partnerships do not shape conclusions. A service makes the list because it is useful, not because it has an affiliate programme.
- We state the limits plainly. Half the income models have a low ceiling — we put that in the text, not in a footnote.
- We publish no income promises. We show how to do the maths, not what you will earn.
How the project pays for itself
The site earns from affiliate commissions: if you subscribe to a service on our recommendation, we receive a small share and your price does not change. That is the only source of income — we sell no courses, no consulting and no paid access to the material.
Full conditions are on the terms and advertising page; the limits of our responsibility are in the disclaimer.
What you will not find here
Get-rich-quick schemes, “secret methods”, courses sold as articles, and promises of a specific income. Earning from writing is a craft with a long entry; the craft is what we write about.
